There showed a stable development trend in national economy. It was estimated that the city’s GDP reached 441.95 billion RMB which increased 12.4% comparing to same period. The value added amount reached 6.3 billion RMB in the first industry which up 3.8% comparing to last year; 254.657 billion RMB value added in the second industry which increased 11.7% comparing to same period while 180.993 billion RMB reached in third industry, up 13.8%.GDP 73,053 RMB (10,689 U.S. dollars.) per capital by resident population and current exchange . The value added in third industry accounted for 41.0% and increased 0.9 percentage points.
Effectively promoted the employment work, 118,000 new jobs supplied and solved 89000 people’s employment problems, 73.9 thousand people who were laid-off got job again, helped 18035 people who hold "re-employment preferential cards" solve problems. The city's registered urban unemployment rate was 3.12%.
Private economy continued to grow steadily. A good trend showed last year and the total volume continued to expand with size growth and vitality.
1.8215 million employees were in city's private economy, a registered capital of 270.062 billion RMB, up 19.5%. The added value of private economy realized 268.577 billion RMB, up 13.0%, accounting for 60.8% in total economic volume, 2.3 percentage points over the previous year, the completed industrial output value reached 741.041 billion RMB, up 16.0% and turned over taxes reached 32.754 billion RMB, up 22.6%. Fix assets in private economy reached 89.312 billion RMB, which increased 7.9% than last year.
The prices of goods and services grew rapidly. The throughout for urban residents ‘consumption rose 5.1%, which increased 1.3 percentage points than previous year. Among this, the services price increased by 0.6%, consumer prices rose 6.9% and retail prices rose 5.2%.
It was learnt from the Wuxi Development and Reform Commission, Bureau of Statistics and Wuxi Investigation Team of National Bureau of Statistics that in the first quarter of this year, amid the global financial crisis, Wuxi economy begun at a low speed and gradually showed a stable trend with a solid foundation and sustained innovation, which was expected to achieve GDP over RMB100 billion, up 10% year-on-year. Income of the urban and rural residents maintained steady growth with per capita disposable income of RMB7208 in urban area (an increase of 6.1%) and per capita disposable income of RMB7170 in rural area (an increase of 10%).
According to the analysis of the economy in Wuxi in Q1, investment still played an important role in economy promotion. Though the overall weak world economy and trade brought great impact on the Wuxi foreign trade, in the field of the wind energy and micro-electronics, Wuxi enterprises still shared the world market. From the three industries we can see that agricultural production was in stability, industrial production stopped its reduction, and the service industry developed at a rapid speed. The local revenue of Wuxi was still relatively stable.
Open Economy
Foreign trade continued to grow steadily. Annual sales realized a volume of 56.028 billion U.S. dollars, up 9.6%. Among them, 20.243 billion U.S. dollars total in imports, which lowered down 7.3% over the previous year; 35.785 billion U.S. dollars in exports, up 22.0% comparing to last year. 5683 enterprises achieved good performance in import and export, which included 3102 domestic enterprises. Production enterprises, foreign-invested enterprises grew rapidly in exports. The city's manufacturing enterprises exported 8.346 billion U.S. dollars, up 31.9%, which amounted 23.3% in city's total exports. The export of foreign-invested enterprises reached 25.662 billion U.S. dollars, up 19.7%, which amounted 71.7% in the city's total exports. Foreign trade companies exported 1.777 billion U.S. dollars, up 14.4%, accounting for 5% of the city's exports. Exports in private enterprises completed a total export of 7.495 billion U.S. dollars, up 31.7%, accounting for 20.9% in the city's proportion.
