The Former Residence of A Bin
The composer of the monumental Erhu solo piece entitled "The Moon Reflected in the Second.Best Spring" is a blind Wuxi-born folk musician Hua Yanjun, yet Wuxinese all know him by the name of A Bin. It is in an annex to a Taoist temple located in the old part of the city that the gifted Erhu player was born, and passed away after a relatively short and distressed stay in this world. The annex house has been preserved for visitors to remember the much-loved folk musician by.

The Dong Lin Academy of Classical Learning
Being one of China's 4 most influential academies in history, it was founded in the year 1111 in the Northern Song Dynasty. The wide-spread couplet written by the Ming Dynasty scholar Gu Xiangcheng originated from the academy, which has greatly inspired generations of Chinese intellectuals. The couplet read:
"Be alert in listening to all sounds,may they be those of wind, rain or reading;
Be concerned about all affairs,may they be those of the family, state or world."

The Former Residence of Qian Zhongshu
Qian Zhongshu (1910-1998), styled Mo Cun and also called Huai Ju, a celebrated scholar and literary giant of our time, was born into a cultured family in Wuxi. His former residence, covering some 1,000m in area and centering at a hall called "Sheng Shi Hall", is permeated with the spirit of a true member of the Chinese literati.

The Former Residence of Qin Bangxian
Qin Bangxian (1907-1946), a native of Wuxi, styled Ze Min, also called Bo Gu which is by far better-known, was once among the early highest leadership of the CPC. His former residence, as a historical site, is under the preservation of the city.

The Former Residence of Xu Xiake
It is for the reason that Xu Xiake (1587-1641) was a great geographer and traveler that his former residence--this Ming dynasty style architectural complex--was promoted to be an important historical site under national preservation.
The Private Garden of the Xue's
It refers to the former residence of Xue Fucheng (1838-1894) whose construction began in 1890. Xue, an eminent thinker, was once sent on a diplomatic mission by the Imperial Qing Court to Europe, for which, this mansion house got the name of the "Imperial Envoy's Mansion". The worth of this typical bureaucrat's mansion house is understood in the way that the grandeur of the imposing complex matches properly the daintiness of the classical Jiangnan garden in it.
